Domestic Violence Recovery Program (DVRP) Groups
Purpose and Goals
The primary goal of the DVRP is to reduce domestic violence within our community by equipping participants with essential skills and insights. The program focuses on:
- Effective Communication: Participants learn to articulate their thoughts and emotions in a constructive and respectful manner. By understanding and implementing healthy communication techniques, they can foster more positive interactions with others.
- Coping Mechanisms: The program teaches various strategies for managing and coping with undesired emotions such as anger, frustration, and anxiety. These coping mechanisms are crucial in preventing violent outbursts and maintaining emotional stability.
- Self-Awareness: Participants develop a deeper understanding of how their environment and upbringing have shaped their communication styles and reactions. This self-awareness is vital for recognizing and altering harmful behaviors.
- Possibility of Change: Emphasizing that change is possible, the program helps participants break free from entrenched patterns of communication and behavior. Through guided support, they learn that transformation is achievable, regardless of past habits.
Program Structure
The DVRP is meticulously structured to ensure uniformity and accountability. Each session follows a consistent format, adhering to the highest standards of quality and effectiveness. - Small Group Setting: To maximize individual attention and group cohesion, each session is limited to no more than 12 members. This small group setting allows for personalized feedback and a supportive community atmosphere where participants can share experiences and learn from one another.
